Chapter:  Delta Eta – McNeese State University

Event Name:  Serving for RMHC- Black light Volleyball Tournament

Event Date: 4/14/18

How many times has this event been held? This is the second time!

Tell us about your event.

Delta Eta hosted it’s second ever Spring volleyball tournament, but first

ever black-light volleyball tournament! We had over 10 teams sign up, we also sold concessions, door prizes, discount cards, as well as also having a corn hole tournament to raise money for RMHC. We made over $2,500 compared to the previous Spring Semester where we raised around $600. The event looked fabulous with all of the black-lights and decorations our sisters made for the event!

How did you involve the entire chapter and get them excited?

Our philanthropy chair set a goal for our sisters to try and raise at least $1,500 as a chapter, and the reward for meeting the goal would be a cook out at her house. Everyone was responsible for selling at least 5 discount cards as well as signing up for tabling on campus! We also had a sleepover at the chapter house dedicated to making all of the decorations for the event.

(If event held previously) What activities did you add for your guests?

We added door prizes as well as having a corn hole tournament going on at the same time as the volleyball tournament. We also added a passing competition as well as an award for best team shirt. This year our philanthropy chair also booked a DJ which added a lot more fun and upbeat atmosphere to the event!

What tips would you offer to other chapters planning a similar event?

Be sure to get plenty of black lights and make sure they are powerful! Have your chapter get together to make banners and even glow in the dark wooden letters to display at the tournament to make it look over the top.
