Max Gruver Foundation | Alpha Delta Pi
In 2017, Alpha Delta Pi sister Rae Ann Gruver and her husband Steve lost their son to a hazing incident at Louisiana State University. Since Max’s death, Steve and Rae Ann have traveled across the country sharing Max’s story, and in fall of 2018, Alpha Delta Pi partnered with the Max Gruver Foundation to help spread awareness of the dangers of hazing. This year, Alpha Delta Pi and the Max Gruver Foundation with support from the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation will once again partner for our annual Stop the Hazing campaign.
During National Hazing Prevention Week, September 19th-23rd, Alpha Delta Pi and collegiate chapters will virtually share Max’s story and spread awareness on their college campuses.
As you plan how you want to engage, use the Ways to Be Involved with the 2022 Stop the Hazing Campaign resource to identify strategies to raise awareness, provide education, and cultivate ongoing conversation around hazing.

A CONVERSATION ON HOW TO STOP THE HAZING
Since 2018, Alpha Delta Pi has partnered with the Max Gruver Foundation for the Stop the Hazing campaign during National Hazing Prevention Week. With this campaign, it’s important to understand the signs of hazing and resources to report concerns. Additionally, it’s important to understand Stop the Hazing as an actionable strategy to build healthier, safer communities. This conversation around hazing will focus on the impact of unhealthy cultures and how to address systemic issues that allow for this behavior to happen. It will include space to talk about building healthier sisterhoods, identifying issues, and actionable steps sisters can take.
