Alpha Delta Pi announces the closure of Theta Eta chapter at Drake University on May 5, 2024. While closing a chapter is never an easy decision, Grand Council considered the short- and long-term viability of the chapter and determined the potential for a positive Alpha Delta Pi membership experience was lacking on campus. The college Panhellenic saw declining interest in sorority membership the last two years with only 80 women participating in the fall 2023 primary recruitment process. The chapter was unable to maintain a chapter size necessary to provide a rewarding experience for its members.

Theta Eta chapter was established at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2009. In their 15 years on campus, the chapter initiated over 400 women and contributed many leaders to the Drake and Des Moines communities. Theta Eta achieved platinum HIRO status, won multiple philanthropy events, and completed thousands of community service hours—including support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Iowa. The chapter and individual members won numerous awards at Drake’s FSLebration and boasted several officers on the Panhellenic Council and the Order of Omega Executive Board.

Members of Grand Council, the Strategic Priority District Team, and the chapters’ advisors conducted official closing ceremonies and celebrations of sisterhood and chapter achievements on May 3 and 4 at the University.
